General membership information

Qualifications

Any individual with a doctoral degree (or research experience equivalent to that required for such a degree) who has demonstrated a major and continuing interest in the field of human nutrition is eligible for membership. Applicants are encouraged to have published at least one creditable paper, monograph, or other publication in the field of human nutrition or relevant animal model.

Who is eligible to join?

Members of ISTERH are persons who share the stated purpose of ISTERH and who have provided evidence for the scientific merit and interest in Trace Element research by having published at least one relevant scientific paper in a refereed journal. Individuals who are not eligible for election as members may apply for Associate membership. Associate members may submit abstracts for presentation under the sponsorship of members and may not vote.

ISTERH’s policy

Allows candidates who hold an M.D., Ph.D., D.D.S, or D.V.M. degree, or a degree equivalent thereto, but have not published at least one creditable paper, monograph, or other publication in the human nutrition research, to append a suitable explanation for the omission to his or her application. The appendage includes a letter of endorsement from a current member of the Society.
